This recipe isn't for desserts or bars, but it should come in handy this time of year. Bits and Bites 8 cups Cheerios 5 cups Shreddies 4 cups pretzels 2 cups peanuts 2 cups cheese nibs Place in a large roasting pan. In small saucepan: melt 1 cup butter add 2 tbsp. lemon juice 3 tbsp. worcestershire sauce 1 tbsp celery salt 2 tsp. onion salt 1 tsp. garlic powder Mix until well blended on medium-low heat. Pour over cereal mixture and stir to coat. Bake at 250 degrees for 1 hour, stirring every 20 minutes. -- Carol B.

Ive been sitting here thinking about this for 10minutes. Trying to come up with a way to color cheerios! Im pretty sure my hubby thinks Im nuts now! lol How about using cake coloring(the gel or paste so that it wouldnt make the cereal soggy) to "paint" the cheerios with a brush? Would take a while, but Im sure kids would love doing that. Or they sell the "Fruity" Cheerios now that are all different colors.

Violet, I see they do have a recipe for chicken nuggets with a crushed Cheerios coating; sounds like it could be a winner! I got distracted by the kids' games at their site too: http://www.cheerios.com/forFamilies/Cheeriosplayroom/cheeriosplayroom_home.aspx Leslie, love the cereal crafts! I remember making pasta wreaths as a kid, with different shapes stuck down, painted white and then spray-painted with gold highlights. They were gaudy, but great fun to make. I wonder if you could string the cereal and then quickly dunk the strings into the dye bath to colour them? • Janet

Not really a recipe idea, but if you have kids that want to help make Christmas decorations, I'd bet cheerios would be pretty easy to string and hang. If you're feeling sassy you could try alternating them with popcorn or cranberries or whatever. They'd probably look good if you dye them with food coloriing, but I have no idea how to make that work. You can also cut out the center of a paper plate, then have your little one glue cheerios to fill it in like a wreath. It makes a GREAT rainy day distraction, but only if the kids are old enough to use glue.

I have not been one to use cereal for anything but breakfast but a few years ago I made chicken coated with crushed cornflakes. Reading this thread got the wheels a'turning in my head about whether one could crush Cherrios or even Chex and use it as a coating on chicken? I don't know if I'm brave enough to try it, though

Hi Lisa. For a quick, healthy snack, you could make GORP (Good Old Raisins and Peanuts)/Trailmix and put them in ziplocks or in a canister whenever you want a quick snack. Combine cheerios with any goodies you like, i.e. Raisins, peanuts, pretzels, dried fruit (apples, apricots, banana chips), mini marshmallows, coconut, chocolate/peanut butter or butterscotch chips. (If you add the chips, you might want to refrigerate the mix, so it doesn't melt.)

While this recipe was created for Chex cereals, I don't see why you couldn't try Cheerios in place of the Chex. People Puppy Chow 2 cups chocolate chips 1 (15 ounce) box Crispix

Hi all! So I have a whole brand new box of cheerios cereal (it was buy one get one free)left over. I was wondering if anyone had any quick or simple desserts or bars that can be made with cheerios? Thanks in advance!
