I'm planning on a small get together for Hannukah this year mid week. My daughter will be competing on Cape cod the first weekend so that squashed the idea of a weekend gathering.. Anyhow.. I'm going to make my mom's stuffed cabbage recipe, my brisket recipe that I have posted on here previously and of course latkas.. I'm going to make the traditional type with white potatoes, onions, matzo meal and eggs.. fried in oil. I'm also going to make sweet potato pancakes and bake them.. I had them previously and loved them. You need to cook the potato until soft.. mash, add some cinnamon a wee bit sugar or splenda.. spray with pam and stick in the oven.. it is YUMMY!!!!

DJ, This sounds really good. You could use the smaller cherry tomatoes and have it as an appetizer. -- Carol B.

So, okay...it's less than 2 weeks till Thanksgiving, which means food, food, and MORE food! PLUS Chanukah, then Christmas! I'm thinking of adding this to my appetizer menu. Whatcha think? Walnut-Basil Cheese Spread 1 (11-oz) log goat cheese 1 (8-oz) carton sour cream 2/3 Cup chopped walnuts, toasted 1/2 Cup finely chopped oil-packed sund-dried tomatoes-drained 1/2 Cup minced faresh basil Tomato shells (optional) COMBINE: goat cheese & sour cream; stir well. Stir in walnuts, chopped sun-dried tomatoes, & basil. SPOON: cheese spread in to large tomato shells, if desired. Cover & chill at least 2 hours. Serve at room temperature with French bread. Yield; 3 cups -- Edited by 795120 at Nov 15, 2009 10:06 PM CST
