Merry Christmas and Happy Hannukah to all my friends.. I know I'm a little late in my well wishes. We went to NY for a visit last week.. Sadly, no cruise this year. With one in college... there was no $$ for a cruise.. and my son went.. mom... I don't want to come home from college to go on a cruise.. so..I'll share the culinary delights with you of my visit in NYC.
We left Virginia at 6am Tuesday morning. Reached our destination at 10am... Manhattan.. we were able to check into the hotel.. It was the Hotel Bellclaire it's on 250 west 77th Street. Perfect for us!! The hotel was newly renovated.. the room was big enough for the 5 of us. What impressed me most was the blow dryer was not bolted to the wall... you are able to sit on your bed and blow dry your hair!!! I know..I'm easily amused.
We met my brother for lunch. He lives on 70th street. We went to a coffee shop.. Nothing like a club sandwich in NY... It taste better up there.. However, after one piece.. I pull the middle bread out.. take off half the meat and then eat it.. My eyes are always bigger then my stomach!!
For dinner we went Italian. Nothing like pizza in NYC.. it's the dough.. the water makes the difference!!! We also had chicken cutlet parmagiana.. it was YUMMY.. my mouth is watering just thinking about this..
We walked around Rockafeller Center. Saw some interesting people on the ice..including one with roller blades on the ice. My daughter wanted to skate.. but at $19.00 a session and 1 1/2 hour wait.. I said no.. It's not like she doesn't skate just about everyday back home.
The next day we went to a "hole in the wall" restaurant for breakfast. Nicks! It's on 77th and Broadway. Greasy.. but oh sooooo good!!!! YUMMY!!
Lunch we went to Juniors.. famous for it's cheesecake. I had matzo ball soup. It was almost as good as mine

My youngest had cheesecake for desert.. we all had a taste.. it was as good as I remembered!
We tried to go into MOMA.. but they are having a Van Gough exhibit and the line was hours long.. so it was a no go. Also, we tried to get theater tickets.. either the show was Dark or Sold out... so we ended up going to the movies. We saw The Day the Earth Stood Still... I give it a thumbs down. Some movies should not be remade! WE.
Breakfast the next morning.. BAGELS!! Lox and Cream cheese with it.. yummy... We also bought 3 dozen bagels to take home.
Hungry now??
